The famous Red Arrows have been confirmed for both days at this year’s Southport Airshow.
This year the annual airshow, which is celebrating its 21st birthday, is to be held on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9, September.
The Red Arrows are acknowledged as one of the world’s premier aerobatic teams and are renowned throughout the world for their stunning displays.
Red Arrows pilots fly the Hawk T1 aircraft which can reach speeds of more than 900 mph. Pilots must have over 1,500 flying hours and have completed a frontline tour of duty before they can apply to join the team.
This year the Red Arrows will be displaying around midday on both days, although times may be subject to change.
Cllr Peter Dowd, Leader of Sefton Council, said: "What better way to celebrate the show's 21st anniversary than to have the Red Arrows open the event on both days? This is great news for the resort and confirms Southport as a great place to visit or do business.
"As well as the Red Arrows we’re finalising a lot of other aircraft for the flying displays – both military and civilian. The Airshow village is also taking shape with dozens of exhibitors and displays already confirmed.
"As ever, spectators should allow plenty of time to travel to the event and park their cars so they make the most of a spectacular event."
Tickets for the Southport Airshow are now available to purchase on the Southport Airshow website .
